Murder investigation ongoing after body found in Sage

SAGE, Calif. — Authorities confirmed today they are investigating the death of a man whose body was found near the Ador Nursery in the unincorporated community of Sage, Wednesday morning, June 3.

Although officials have released no details about what may have led to the man’s death, a sergeant involved in the investigation today said the man – who has not yet been publicly identified – sustained traumatic injuries leading to his death.

Deputies from the Southwest Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to the 40600 block of Sage Road at 8:58 a.m., after receiving reports of a deceased male, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Richard Carroll has since said of the ongoing investigation.

Responding deputies located the body of a man who sustained traumatic injuries, according to Carroll; who said deputies did not find any potential suspects during their initial investigation.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending further investigation and notification of the man’s family. 

“Due to the nature of the incident, Investigators from the Southwest Station and the Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation,” said Carroll.

He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 29 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 16 grandchildren.
