Gunman at large after deadly Moreno Valley shooting

MORENO VALLEY, Calif. — Authorities investigating the fatal shooting of a Moreno Valley man say no arrests have been made and that the shooter(s) are still on the loose.

The deadly shooting happened in Moreno Valley on the 24000 block of Myers Ave., between Heacock and Indian streets Sunday, June 7.

Deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to the residential neighborhood around 10:30 p.m., after receiving reports of a shooting, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Steve Brosche later reported.

When deputies arrived, they found a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Although deputies immediately began life-saving measures, they were unsuccessful in reviving the victim, who was later pronounced deceased at the scene, according to Brosche.

The victim has since been identified as Kevin Henderson, 43, of Moreno Valley.

Deputies searched for the suspect(s), who fled the scene before officials arrived. The suspect(s) have not been identified and are still outstanding, said Brosche.

Investigators from the Moreno Valley Station and Central Homicide Unit have assumed the investigation, which is active and ongoing.

He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 29 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 16 grandchildren.
