3 adults & 2 infants hospitalized after crash that killed man

JURUPA VALLEY, Calif. — Authorities say a man was killed and five other people, including two infants, were hospitalized after a deadly Jurupa Vally crash Thursday, July 9.

The fatal, two-vehicle collision happened adjacent Jurupa Valley High School, at the intersection of Etiwanda Ave. and Ryder Rd., between Bellgrave Ave. and Cantu Galleano Ranch Rd.

Deputies from the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station, Cal Fire-Riverside, and AMR were dispatched to the scene of the crash about 10:16 a.m., after receiving reports of a traffic collision involving two vehicles, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Luke Torres has since reported.

When officials arrived they found two wrecked vehicles, with six victims involved, Cal Fire later said in a social media release about the collision. At least two victims were left trapped by the impact of the crash.

One of the two drivers, an adult male, sustained major traumatic injuries and passed away, according to Torres; who said the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. His name has not been released, pending further investigation and notification of the his family.

“Four other occupants in this vehicle, including two infants, were transported to local hospitals,” according to Torres. Their injuries were described as moderate and all four are listed in stable condition.

“The driver and sole occupant of the other vehicle was also transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries,” said Torres.

Members of the Jurupa Valley Station’s Traffic Reconstruction Team is conducting a full investigation to determine the cause of the collision.

During their initial, on-scene investigation, deputies called for the temporary closure of Etiwanda Ave., between Bellgrave Ave. and Cantu Galleano Ranch Rd.

Neither alcohol or drug intoxication are believed to have been factors in the deadly collision, which remains under investigation.

Trevor has been married for more than 29 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 16 grandchildren.
