One dead after three-vehicle Lake Elsinore crash

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. — Hwy 74 has been re-opened after deputies concluded their initial, on-scene investigation into a fatal, three-vehicle collision that happened on Hwy 74 at Riverside St., earlier this morning.

No further details have been released regarding the sheriff’s ongoing investigation.

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. — Law enforcement personnel remain at the scene of a deadly, three-vehicle crash that killed one person and injured another in Lake Elsinore early this morning, Saturday, July 11.

Although few details have been released, Cal Fire-Riverside officials say the fatal collision happened near the intersection of Hwy 74 and Riverside St.

Due to the ongoing investigation, Hwy 74 remains closed between Hammock Ave. and Trellis Ln.

Deputies from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station, along with Cal Fire-Riverside and AMR personnel, were dispatched to the scene around 6:45 a.m., according to Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s and Cal Fire social media releases.

When officials arrived at the scene they found three vehicles that had been involved in the collision and reported there were two injured victims.

Officials also reported one critically injured victim was left trapped inside their wrecked vehicle and required extrication.

Firefighters quickly extricated the critically injured victim, while the other injured driver was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.

Despite life-saving efforts, the critically injured victim succumbed to their injuries and passed away at the scene, according to Cal Fire.

The victim’s name has not been released, pending further investigation and notification of the person’s family.

Although medical personnel have cleared the scene, the sheriff’s investigation is active and ongoing and as of this report, Highway 74 remained closed.

Sheriff’s officials have not specified when the roadway will be re-opened, and area residents and morning commuters have reported lengthy delays of up to an hour due to the road closure.

He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 29 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 16 grandchildren.
