Investigation continuing after Hemet man fatally shot – Victim ID’d

HEMET, Calif. — Authorities say a homicide investigation is underway after a man’s lifeless body was found in the unincorporated Hemet area of Gilman Springs Rd. and Highway 79 Saturday morning, Sept. 12.

Deputies from the Hemet Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to the area around 6:30 a.m., to investigate a report of a dead body, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Steve Brosche has since reported.

When deputies arrived, they found the body of a man “who appeared to have been shot,” according to Brosche.

The victim was later identified as Dean Michael Vincent Martinez, a 20-year-old from Hemet.

Investigators from the Hemet Sheriff’s Station and Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit were notified and have assumed the investigation.

No potential suspects have been publicly identified or located and the sheriff’s investigation is ongoing.

He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 30 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 18 grandchildren.
