Menifee man, 26, fatally shot in Moreno Valley

MORENO VALLEY, Calif. — Authorities are investigating the shooting death of a Menifee man after gunshots were reported in Moreno Valley Sunday evening, Sept. 20.

No arrests have been made in the shooting, which happened in a residential neighborhood on the 22000 Block of Adrienne Ave., northeast of Alessandro Blvd. and Elsworth St.

Deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to the area at 10:46 p.m., after receiving the report of gunshots heard in the area, Riverside Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit Sergeant Rick Espinoza has since reported.

“Shortly after arriving in the area, deputies received information of a male arriving at a local hospital suffering from gunshot wounds,” said Espinoza. “Medical personnel at the hospital attempted life saving measures; however, the male succumbed to his injuries.”

The victim has since been identified as Alfredo Salazar, 26, of Menifee.

Members of the Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit responded and have assumed the investigation.

“This is an active investigation and no additional details are currently available,” said Espinoza.

He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 30 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 18 grandchildren.
