“CHP’s preliminary investigation revealed that a 21-year-old female driver ran a red light, striking Officer Lovelady’s patrol car broadside,” officials described.

The patrol car sustained major, driver’s side impact damage as well as two flat tires; however, the officer only suffered minor injuries.

“The … driver of the other vehicle was not injured and alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this collision,” said officials; adding that CHP’s investigation is ongoing.
