Redding man arrested after New Year’s Eve DUI crash

REDDING, Calif. — Authorities say a man was arrested after losing control of his vehicle and crashing into a Redding tree late New Year’s Eve, Thursday, Dec. 31.

The DUI-related accident, which injured a passenger in the vehicle that crashed, happened in the area of Park Marina Drive and South Street, according to officials.

City of Redding Police and Fire personnel were dispatched to the scene of the crash around 11:45 p.m., after receiving reports of a vehicle that crashed into a tree.

When officials arrived they found a small white sedan with heavy front-end damage that had plowed into a large tree along Park Marina Drive.

Two occupants from the vehicle were evaluated and treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The driver, Blaine Lentz, 30, of Redding, was later arrested for driving under the influence and booked into Shasta County Jail in Redding. His passenger declined further treatment and was released at the scene.

There were no other vehicles involved and no other injuries were reported.

Redding PD’s investigation into the full cause of the crash is ongoing and no further details have been released.

He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 30 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 18 grandchildren.
