Fatally ejected, Homeland man ID’d after rollover crash

HOMELAND, Calif. — Authorities say a man was fatally ejected in a solo vehicle rollover accident early Saturday morning, Jan. 23. The deadly crash happened in the 32000 block of Highway 74, just west of White Avenue, according to California Highway Patrol and Cal Fire.

CHP, Cal Fire-Riverside and AMR were dispatched to the scene around 1:50 a.m., after receiving reports of a crash with a victim ejected.

When officials arrived they found the lifeless body of a man who had been ejected when his vehicle overturned. Paramedics determined the victim had already succumbed to major traumatic injuries and had already passed away.

Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner officials have since identified the victim as John Marks III, 30, of Homeland. A coroner’s release indicated Marks was pronounced deceased at 2:05 a.m.

CHP’s investigation into the cause of this morning’s deadly crash remains under investigation.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 30 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 18 grandchildren.
