UPDATE: Victim, 17, ID’d after deadly Moreno Valley shooting

MORENO VALLEY, Calif. — Authorities are continuing to investigate the murder of a teen who was found fatally shot inside a vehicle in Moreno Valley Wednesday evening, Jan. 27. The discovery was made in the area of Lasselle Street and Avenida Classica, according to officials.

Deputies from the Moreno Valley Station were dispatched to the scene around 9:30 p.m., after receiving reports of an unresponsive male in a vehicle, Riverside Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit Sergeant Rick Espinoza has since reported.
Responding deputies found a vehicle straddling the center median of the roadway near the intersection and located the victim inside the car.
“Upon arrival, the deputies discovered a male suffering from a gunshot wound and deceased,” said Espinoza.
Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner officials have since identified Markese Benny Holland, a 17-year-old San Bernardino resident, as the victim found deceased in the car.
The Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit has assumed the investigation, which is active and ongoing.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.
Trevor has been married for more than 30 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 18 grandchildren.
