CANYON LAKE, Calif. — Authorities who are continuing to investigate the suspicious death of a man whose naked and lifeless body was pulled from Canyon Lake earlier this month, have asked for the public’s help in tracking the man’s movements and whereabouts in the days leading to the Sunday, March 14th discovery of his body.

The victim has since been identified as Jason Eilola-Coye, a 19-year-old from the City of Murrieta. His body was found by a fisherman in a fishing float in the area of Vacation Drive and Old Wrangler Road, along the lake’s northernmost end, according to officials.

After the victim’s unclothed body was recovered from the lake, Canyon Lake Insider reported that a deputy at the scene said the body appeared to have been in the lake for “a couple of days”, and a subsequent coroner’s release indicated his actual date and time of death were unknown and pending further investigation.

Family members and officials are hoping that someone will come forward with information about what Murrieta resident Jason Eilola-Coye was doing in the days before his body was pulled from Canyon Lake earlier this month. RSO photo

Although officials have said that no foul play is suspected at this time, family members, friends, and others are desperate for closure and more information about what Eilola-Coye was doing in the days before his body was discovered.

To help understand what may have led to Eilola-Coye’s tragic death, the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station is asking for the public’s help with any information that could shed light on Eilola-Coye’s activities and whereabouts prior to Sunday, March 14.

The victim’s body was found by a fisherman in a fishing float in the area of Vacation Drive and Old Wrangler Road, along the lake’s northernmost end, according to officials.

Deputies from the Lake Elsinore Station responded to the area at 5:02 p.m. after receiving a report of a deceased male found floating in the lake, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Adam Heard has since reported.

“The identity of the decedent has not been made at this time,” said Heard.

Canyon Lake Insider has reported that a deputy at the scene said the body appeared to have been in the lake for “a couple of days”, and witnesses have said the victim’s body was unclothed when it was recovered from the lake.

Investigators from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station responded to the location and assumed the investigation; which is active and ongoing.
