City of Murrieta Police and Fire personnel along with AMR were dispatched to the scene about 11:11 p.m. after the Murrieta Police Department Dispatch Center received multiple 911 calls from citizens reporting a traffic collision.

When officials arrived they found the teenage boy unconscious and trapped inside the wrecked vehicle, according to the Murrieta Police Department.

The victim ultimately succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the scene, said officials; who added that the victim’s identity is being withheld due to his age.

During their subsequent investigation, officers determined the victim had been traveling northbound on whitewood Road when his vehicle left the roadway and smashed into a brick wall and a tree on the east side of Whitewood Road, according to Murrieta PD.

Officials have not yet specified if drug and/or alcohol intoxication, distracted driving, or excessive speed were considered to be contributing factors in the deadly accident.
