Menifee man dead after Homeland shooting – Investigation ongoing

HOMELAND, Calif. — Authorities say a homicide investigation is underway after a Menifee man was fatally shot in the unincorporated community of Homeland, east of Perris, Friday afternoon, April 23. No arrests have been made related to the deadly shooting, which happened in the 25000 block of Echo Valley Road.

Deputies from the Perris Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to the scene around 12:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Steve Brosche has since said.

“When deputies arrived, they located a deceased adult male who appeared to have been shot,” Brosche explained; adding, “The suspect(s) are still outstanding at this time.”

The victim has been identified as Saul Jimenez Aguilar, a 44-year old from Menifee.

Investigators from the Central Homicide Unit and Perris Sheriff’s Station have assumed the investigation, which is active and ongoing, according to Brosche, who said no further details were available at this time.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 30 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 18 grandchildren.
