Victim of deadly Redding hit and run ID’d – Driver still sought

REDDING, Calif. — Although officials yesterday identified a pedestrian who was fatally struck by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene last Wednesday morning, June 9th, officers are continuing to search for the driver who hit the victim and left him to die in the roadway.

The fatal hit and run happened in the area of South Bonnyview and East Bonnyview roads.

Shasta County Chief Deputy Coroner Lieutenant Stonehouse yesterday identified 55-year-old, Wally Wayne Rogers, of Redding, as the pedestrian who died at the scene of Wednesday’s hit and run.

The decedent’s next-of-kin has been notified and the postmortem examination will be scheduled and the case remains under investigation by the Redding Police Department.

REDDING, Calif. — Authorities say a pedestrian was fatally struck by an unknown driver who fled the scene in Redding early this morning, Wednesday June 9th. The fatal hit and run happened on South Bonnyview Road, east of East Bonnyview Road, according to officials.

City of Redding police and fire personnel were dispatched to the scene around 4:53 a.m. after SHASCOM emergency dispatchers received a 911 call reporting a pedestrian down in the roadway

When officers arrived at the scene they determined the pedestrian had already succumbed to major traumatic injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The victim’s name has not been released, pending positive identification and notification of the person’s family.

The driver who fatally struck the pedestrian had already fled the scene and has not yet been identified or located.

He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 30 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 18 grandchildren.
