Kicked, punched and beaten to the ground, Hemet security guard attacked, robbed
Writer’s Note: Although RCNS has obtained the name of the suspect involved in the attack, we will not be releasing her name due to her age. Additionally, calls to Hemet PD for more information and details about the incident had not been responded to as of this report.
HEMET, Calif. — The owner and president of a local security company suffered serious injuries when she was brutally attacked and robbed of her cell phone by a group of teens outside the Hemet Travelodge Motel early Saturday morning, June 12th. Despite suffering significant facial and eye injuries in the attack, she was back to work the next night when several security guards called off work in the wake of the unprovoked attack.
Although the entire violent incident was captured on the motel’s security cameras, it was not immediately known if the teen, a black female described as being 16 or 17, was arrested as a result of the beating and robbery.

At around 1:30 a.m., a Hemet Gate Keeper security guard was patrolling the motel on Florida Avenue when she made contact with a group of five teenagers who were loitering in the motel’s stairwell. After the security guard learned the group was not registered at the motel and was staying at another nearby hotel, the Diamond Inn located directly across the street, she asked the group to leave.
Video of the incident captured by several of the motel’s security cameras, (which can be viewed below), showed that although the group initially began to leave the property, as the guard escorted them through the parking lot they surrounded her and began to taunt and harass her.
As the security cameras continued filming, one of the teens suddenly charged at the un-armed guard, knocking her backwards. Moments later, the teen punched the guard in the face, knocking her to the ground. As the guard attempted to stand back up the teen punched her in the face again, leaving her dazed and crawling on the ground for safety. Despite being on the ground, the teen then attacked the guard again from behind.
Then, as a teenage boy tried to drag the violent girl away from the guard who was still on the ground, she kicked her in the face.
At some point during the violent and unprovoked attack, the teen managed to grab and steal the guard’s cell phone.
Alerted to the incident via a radio broadcast by the injured guard, other Gate Keeper security guards soon arrived, with Hemet PD arriving at the scene shortly thereafter.
The victim sustained serious injuries to her face that required medical treatment.

“This female security officer was assaulted while just trying to do her job on the property (her company is) hired to protect,” Hemet News’s Eddie George later said of the incident.
George went on to explain that in the wake of the attack, two guards called off work, leaving the Gate Keepers short-handed for their contracted security patrols.
“This officer is one dedicated guard for our community,” George continued; adding, “After taking this licking she keeps on ticking!”
“Despite the attack that left her with visible injuries to her face, because the company is short handed, she came in early to patrol the city she loves and to take up the slack of her company’s short handed staff,” George continued; adding, “Now that’s dedication!”

Steve Norman, Vice President of the Hemet Gate Keepers told RCNS this morning that his wife, the security guard beaten and robbed during Saturday morning’s attack, is recovering from injuries she received in the beating and robbery.
“It’s frustrating and disheartening, and we’re just short-handed,” Norman said; while telling RCNS why his wife was out on patrol the night of the attack.
Norman explained that while the Hemet Gate Keepers has grown from just a dozen security guards to more than fifty, right now the company is having a very difficult time finding and hiring qualified employees and trying to keep up with the heavy demand for security guards throughout the Hemet and San Jacinto valley.
“The only reason my wife and I were out that night is because it is so hard to find qualified security guards to hire due to the city’s rampant crime and the current state of the nation,” Norman explained.
“With people being paid to stay at home, it’s like were competing with the government right now,” Norman continued; adding, “Why would people want to work when they can get paid by the government to just stay at home?”
Hemet Gate Keepers later put out a social media release with further details regarding the incident, which can be viewed below. In their release they asked that anyone with information about the suspect to contact Hemet PD at (951) 765-2400.
