Mead Valley accident leaves pedestrian dead

MEAD VALLEY, Calif., — Authorities say a male was fatally struck while riding across a Mead Valley roadway Saturday evening, Aug. 14. Various conflicting reports indicate the victim was either riding a skateboard or child’s Razor-style scooter when he was struck by a pickup truck in the 20200 block of Old Elsinore Road, between Cedar Street and Palm Lane, according to officials.

When officials arrived they found the male victim down in the middle of the roadway and a dark-colored Toyota Tundra with significant front-end damage stopped nearby. The victim, whose name and age have not been released, succumbed to his injuries and paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.

While officers interviewed the Toyota driver, witnesses reported that the victim was either riding a scooter or skateboard when he rode into the oncoming path of the Toyota and was fatally struck.

During the subsequent collision investigation, CHP called for the temporary closure of Old Elsinore Road from Cedar Street to Palm Lane, but the roadway has since re-opened.

This is a developing story that will be updated as new information becomes available.
