Deputies assigned to the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station, along with Cal Fire-Riverside and other emergency personnel, were dispatched to the scene around 11 p.m. after receiving reports of a solo-vehicle rollover crash with ejection, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Javier Morando and fire officials have since reported.

When officials arrived they found an overturned SUV against a tree and soon located a victim on the ground who had been ejected from the vehicle. Officials also found a second victim trapped inside the SUV and began a cut and rescue operation to free the critically injured victim.

Both patients were eventually rushed via ground ambulances to area hospitals. Their conditions have been described as critical, with one undergoing immediate surgery upon arrival at the hospital, according to Morando.

Members of the Jurupa Valley Station’s Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation and both directions of Mission Blvd between Crestmore Rd. and Mount Rubidoux Dr. were closed for the duration of the investigation.

During their preliminary investigation, deputies determined the SUV “may have been traveling at a high rate of speed, lost control and collided with a curb, then a palm tree, leaving the roadway and rolling down an embankment,” Morando described.

“At this time, it is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the collision,” the Sergeant explained, saying the investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing.

Anyone with information about this investigation is encouraged to call Deputy Nancarrow at the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station at (951) 955-2600 or the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department at (951) 776-1099. Callers can refer to incident file number JV212380192 and can remain anonymous.
