At around 4 a.m., a City of Anderson police officer observed Joshua Michael Elvers, 33, of Anderson, driving a vehicle in the 3000 block of North Street, according to an Anderson PD social media release following the incident and arrest.

“The officer was familiar with Elvers and knew him to be a convicted sex offender who is currently on probation and who had six active warrants for his arrest,” APD explained in their release.

Based on knowing Elvers was wanted with multiple warrants, the officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and arrested Elvers for his warrants.

During a subsequent search of Elvers’ vehicle, the officer discovered approximately three ounces of methamphetamine, approximately two pounds of cannabis, ammunition, and over $2,000 in cash.

Elvers was later booked into the Shasta County Jail in Redding for his warrants. Officials say they will also be seeking charges against him for possession and transportation of methamphetamine and cannabis for the purpose of sales, being a felon in possession of ammunition, and a new violation of probation.

Online jail records indicate Elvers remains in custody, where he is being held without bail.

  • Another great bust by APD!!!. Hopefully by the time he is sentenced we’ll have a Governor who has decided that there won’t be early releases and let the laws go back to the way they should… when you committed a crime you served your time.
