Perris robbery investigation leads to arrest for manufacturing firearms and other charges

PERRIS, Calif., — Authorities today announced the arrest of a Perris man they say was found to be in possession of a short-barreled rifle, multiple high-capacity magazines, firearm suppressors, a handgun, body armor, and more than 10 pounds of processed marijuana.

Officials say the man’s arrest was the result of robbery-related search warrant Thursday, Aug. 26, and that during the service of their warrant, officials also discovered firearm parts as well as equipment used to manufacture illegal handguns and rifles.

At around 7:40 p.m., Perris-Lake Elsinore Region 6 Gang Task Force officers, along with members of the Perris Station’s Robbery Burglary Suppression Team, and the Riverside County Sheriff’s SWAT Team, served a search warrant at a Perris residence in 1300 block of Mount Shasta Street, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Jose Ayala has since reported.

The search warrant stemmed from a robbery investigation led by the Perris Station Robbery Burglary Suppression Team, according to Ayala.

“During the search warrant, Task Force Officers contacted Daniel Ambriz, a 28-year-old resident of Perris, and documented criminal street gang member,” the Sergeant explained. “A search of Ambriz’s residence revealed a short-barreled rifle, multiple high-capacity magazines, two weapon suppressors, a .380 caliber firearm, a Polymer 80 pistol lower, body armor, equipment used to manufacture illegal handguns and rifles, and 10 ½ pounds of processed marijuana.”

Based on their findings, officials arrested Ambriz and he was later booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion of manufacturing Illegal firearms, possession of a short-barreled rifle, possession of weapon suppressors, and possession of marijuana for Sales.

Online jail records indicate he remains in custody in lieu of $20,000 bail or bond.

Trevor has been married for more than 30 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 18 grandchildren.
