UPDATE: Murder victim found deceased in car parked near Perris Walmart ID’d

UPDATED: Sunday, Sept. 12, 2:30 p.m., With Sheriff’s release of victim’s identity.

PERRIS, Calif., — Sheriff’s officials say a local man was arrested after deputies who responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle discovered a man’s lifeless body inside a car parked in the vegetation alongside a Perris roadway yesterday morning, Thursday, Sept. 9.

The discovery happened on the sparsely traveled Frontage Road near Indian Avenue, just north of the Walmart Supercenter along the 215 Freeway.

Deputies from the Perris Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to the scene shortly before 7 a.m. after receiving the report of a suspicious vehicle, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Ed Baeza has since said of the discovery and subsequent arrest.

“When deputies arrived, they located a deceased male inside the vehicle with trauma to his body consistent with a homicide,” the Sergeant explained.

The victim has since been identified as Andrew Seyedmoeme, 32, of Chino.

Deputies secured the scene and investigators from the Perris Station and Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit were summoned and ultimately assumed the investigation.

Over the next several hours, officials were seen working around a silver sedan, and numerous evidence placards were observed on the ground surrounding the passenger’s side of the sedan, where a black privacy drape shielded the view of the victim’s body from members of the media and curious onlookers.

“Through the investigation the suspect was identified as Jerry Hernandez, 28-years-old, from Perris who was arrested,” said Baeza; while not specifying if there was any known motive for the shooting or what may have led to the deadly incident.

Online jail records indicate Hernandez was arrested on Heirloom Avenue in Perris, about one mile from where the shooting occurred, and later booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside on suspicion of first-degree murder. He remains in custody where he is being held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned at the Riverside Hall of Justice Sept. 14.

Due to the road where the car was discovered not being heavily traveled, the initial, hours-long on-scene investigation did not create any traffic issues.

Trevor has been married for more than 30 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 18 grandchildren.
