Deputies from the Perris Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to the 17400 block of Mockingbird Canyon in the unincorporated area of Riverside shortly after midnight regarding a possible shooting, Riverside Sheriff’s Lieutenant Steve Favero later reported.

Responding deputies did not locate any victims and party goers said they were unaware of any shooting taking place. However, a short time later, two local hospitals reported a total of six patients, ranging in age from 15 to 20-years-old, seeking medical attention for gunshot wounds, according to a department spokesperson who said four of the victims were stable while the other two were in critical condition Saturday morning.

“The preliminary investigation revealed an altercation occurred outside of the party near the street,” Favero explained. “During the altercation, gunfire erupted and all parties fled the area.”
