Deputies assigned to the Shasta County Sheriff’s City of Shasta Lake Division along with South County Patrol Station were dispatched to the area of Cascade and Shasta Lake boulevards around 2:30 a.m. after receiving reports of an armed robbery that had just occurred, Shasta County Sheriff’s Sergeant Garet Baldwin has since said of the incident and arrests.

Responding deputies located 18-year-old City of Shasta Lake resident Travis Milligan at the AM/PM gas station on Cascade Boulevard. The teen reported being robbed by a 16-year-old juvenile he knows from prior contacts and said the robbery occurred behind the Burger King restaurant located across the street at 1725 Cascade Boulevard.

Milligan was uninjured in the robbery and told deputies the juvenile, whose name was not released due to his age, approached him with an open switchblade-type knife and threatened to stab him if he did not give him all of his money, the Sergeant explained.

Fearing for his life, Milligan provided the knife-wielding suspect with the small amount of cash he had in his possession.

The suspect then left the area with three other juveniles, at which time Milligan ran to the nearby AM/PM gas station to report the incident.

“A short time later, deputies located the four teenage juveniles in the area, walking with a 27-year-old male, identified as Curtis M. Clarkson of Shasta Lake,” Baldwin explained. “The 16-year-old suspect was identified by the victim and placed under arrest.”

While searching the juvenile suspect and others detained during their investigation, deputies found the weapon Milligan had described as being used during the robbery and also located alcoholic beverages, marijuana and marijuana smoking devices inside the backpack of one of the teens.

Deputies learned the adult, since identified as Clarkson, had provided the contraband to the juveniles and arrested the man.
