Six recent Mt. Shasta arrests include four battery cases

MT. SHASTA, Calif., — Mt. Shasta Police Department reports that over the last two weeks, from Oct. 17 through Oct. 31, officers responded to 270 calls for service that resulted in nineteen new cases and six arrests.

Comparatively, during the prior two week period the department responded to 355 calls for service that resulted in twenty-eight new cases and six arrests, while the two week period before that saw officers respond to 337 calls for service that resulted in thirty-one new cases and thirteen arrests.

Public contacts resulting from 911 calls, self-initiated patrol activities, and other investigations over the last two weeks ended with arrests for a variety of mostly minor crimes such as disturbing the peace; however, MSPD saw a dramatic increase in batteries over the last two weeks, with four separate battery-related arrests over a three day period.

It was not immediately known if the cases were related; however, two family members, 55-year-old Jason Charles Sneed and 75-year-old Jimmie Charles Sneed, were reportedly involved in the back-to-back violent encounters with 42-year-old Cody Ray Richardson and Sarah Michelle Montgomery, respectively.

Those arrested over the last two weeks include: 

  • On October 18, 2012 42-year-old Cody Ray Richardson was arrested for battery.
  • On October 18, 2021 55-year-old Jason Charles Sneed was arrested for battery.
  • On October 20, 2021 39-year-old Sara Michelle Montgomery was arrested for battery.
  • On October 20, 2021 75-year-old Jimmie Charles Sneed was arrested for battery.
  • On October 25, 2021 45-year-old Michael Lawrence Simons was arrested for Disturbing the Peace.
  • On October 28, 2021 27-year-old Zachary Glenn Kardy was arrested for Vehicle Theft.

During his time with the sheriff’s department, Trevor worked at several different stations; including Robert Presley Detention Center, Southwest Station in Temecula, Hemet/Valle Vista Station, Ben Clark Public Safety Training Center, and Lake Elsinore Station; along with other locations.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 30 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 18 grandchildren.
