Public’s help sought identifying alleged Mt. Shasta thief

MT. SHASTA, Calif., — Officials are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man suspected of stealing property from a Mt. Shasta business Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 1.

The theft occurred at the Mt. Shasta Do it Best Hardware at 128 Morgan Way, according to officials.

Mt. Shasta police officers began investigating the report of a theft of merchandise from the business around 4 p.m. after an employee called 911 and reported the incident, Mt. Shasta PD later reported in a social media release.

During their subsequent investigation, officers obtained video surveillance footage that showed the alleged suspect entering the business and later shared images of the person, while asking area residents for their help identify the man.

The suspect has been described as a white male with short brown hair and was seen wearing blue jeans, an orange Nike shirt, white tennis shoes, a brown jacket with white lining, and a multi-colored face covering.

During his time with the sheriff’s department, Trevor worked at several different stations; including Robert Presley Detention Center, Southwest Station in Temecula, Hemet/Valle Vista Station, Ben Clark Public Safety Training Center, and Lake Elsinore Station; along with other locations.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 30 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 18 grandchildren.
