The crash left at least one victim trapped and injured inside their overturned vehicle and that victim was extricated just moments ago, at around 12:20 p.m.

The accident, which has left the highway impassable, happened along Hwy. 89 – approximately one-half mile south of Rancheria RV Park and Black Angus Lane.

California Highway Patrol and other area emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene around 11:20 a.m. after one of the involved drivers called 911 and reported that he had been involved in a rollover traffic accident involving at least one other vehicle, described by him as a recreational vehicle.

The caller also reported that his silver Toyota Tacoma had slid on the ice before overturning off the highway, and said that other involved vehicles were blocking both directions of travel along the two-lane mountain roadway.

The first arriving personnel reported finding not one, but two vehicles that had overturned, and updated that the highway was blocked and impassable due to multiple big rigs and other vehicles that had stopped to render aid to the involved victims.

Officials also reported that the involved RV, described as a 20-25 ft. Winnebago, was found to be about twenty feet off the roadway and a heavy-duty wrecker – which already happened to be just minutes away in Old Station, was summoned and is currently still responding to the scene.

As additional resources were continuing to arrive at the location, officials also reported that extrication efforts were continuing for one victim left trapped in one of the overturned vehicles. That person was eventually pulled from their vehicle, which has not yet been described, and was transported to Mayers in Fall River Mills with unspecified injuries.

At around noon, officials requested all vehicular traffic continued to remain stopped in both directions, to allow rescue crews safe access to the collision scene, which remained heavily active as of this report.

This is an early breaking report and will be updated as new details become available.
