Injuries reported after solo-vehicle crash into tree in Hemet

HEMET, Calif., — Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of a solo-vehicle crash after a driver lost control of their vehicle and crashed into a tree in front of the Shadow Canyon Apartments at 3030 W. Acacia Avenue in Hemet, between S. Sanderson Avenue and Kirby Street Sunday evening, Jan. 2.

Although an air ambulance was initially requested for the injured driver, the victim was eventually transported by ground ambulance to an area hospital after the crash.

City of Hemet police and fire personnel were dispatched to the scene shortly before 8 p.m. after receiving reports of an unknown injury traffic collision.

When officials arrived, they found a silver Nisan Versa with heavy front-end damage in a ditch against a large tree near the apartment complex’s tennis courts.

Officials reported finding a sole victim with moderate injuries and requested an air ambulance to the scene after being advised that AMR had an extended ETA of 20 to 25 minutes.

However, when AMR was able to divert an ambulance to the scene sooner than expected, the airship was canceled and the victim was transported by ground ambulance to an area hospital for further treatment.

The victim’s current condition was not immediately available and Hemet PD’s collision investigation is continuing.
