Expired registration tags in Montague lead to discovery of meth – Wanted man arrested

MONTAGUE, Calif., — Authorities say an expired registration-related traffic stop in Montague led to the arrest of a wanted man who was found in possession of a significant quantity of methamphetamine and narcotics paraphernalia Sunday, Jan. 2.

Sunday’s incident began when a Siskiyou County sheriff’s deputy spotted a blue, 2002 GMC pickup with expired vehicle registration while patrolling the Montague area east of Yreka, SCSO has since said of the traffic enforcement stop and subsequent arrest.

During the stop the deputy contacted the driver, Don Watson, and learned he had two felony warrants; including one out of the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office and another out of the Yreka Police Department.

The deputy arrested Watson for his warrants and during a subsequent search located a baggie with approximately 12.5 grams of methamphetamine and a methamphetamine smoking pipe in Watson’s pocket.

Watson was transported to the Siskiyou County Jail where he was booked on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also booked on his felony warrants.

Online jail records indicate Watson has since been released and is no longer in custody.

During his time with the sheriff’s department, Trevor worked at several different stations; including Robert Presley Detention Center, Southwest Station in Temecula, Hemet/Valle Vista Station, Ben Clark Public Safety Training Center, and Lake Elsinore Station; along with other locations.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 30 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 18 grandchildren.
