City of Menifee police and fire personnel, along with Cal Fire – Riverside and other emergency personnel, were dispatched to the scene shortly before 10:20 p.m. after receiving reports of a vehicle versus motorcycle collision, Menifee Police Sergeant Matthew Bloch has since reported.

When officials arrived, they found a critically injured rider down in the roadway and began providing the victim medical aid. Their life-saving efforts continued until Cal Fire and American Medical Response personnel arrived.

The motorcyclist was transported by ground ambulance to Inland Valley Medical Center where he remains in critical condition, according to Bloch.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the motorcyclist, since identified as 31-year-old Nathan Lee Stipp, remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. He was later arrested after officers determined he was under the influence at the time of the collision.

After his arrest, Stipp was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion of felony DUI resulting in great bodily injuries.

Online jail records indicate he was released within hours of his arrest, after posting $50,000 bail or bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned at the Murrieta Southwest Justice Center on May 5th.
