Canada’s Trudeau: A Modern Day Hitler – By Robert Socha

This past weekend of February 19-20, 2022, has witnessed a terrible blow to Liberty. Hitler would have been impressed by the alacrity which compelled Canada’s paramilitary units to beat and squash the peaceful protesters who turned Quebec into gridlock. I wrote about the brownshirt mentality before but hoped I would not have to witness it.

Yet, here we are, observing a supposedly peaceful and progressive government suppress its citizenry violently because they choose not to sit by idly watching their government impose ever-extended mandates. At the same time, their elected officials continue to deny their Liberty in the name of the collective good.

But their spirits are not broken!

Although the nightmarish militarian response is not unprecedented in its force, it has been to this point a non sequitur in the West. Much to Trudeau’s consternation, Canadians, nay worldwide response to his dictatorial prowess, is stark condemnation and a determination to continue as this video documents.

One man, Csaba Visi, a Romanian immigrant to Canada having escaped the iron curtain, voluntarily got down from his truck to submit to the police. Although, once he was on the ground, there is a video of officers kneeing him brutally; the same police he was unafraid of surrendering. In an interview with Tucker Carleson, he maintained his position, “They break my body a little bit, but not my spirit.”

The 92nd anniversary of Gandhi’s march to the sea is fast approaching. It was not his first attempt to liberate his people from harsh colonial rule but his boldest. The 241-mile march started humbly with 78 followers and swelled to tens of thousands who witnessed Gandhi defy British law and make salt from seawater. His courageous actions were instrumental in gaining India’s independence, but that didn’t happen until 1947!

Likewise, the Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. started his journey to see Americans “one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character” in the mid-1950s. He was still in the fight until his assassination on April 4, 1968.

Once again, we see the world catapulted into a conflict between Liberty and tyranny. Thus far, it has not escalated militarily (current events in Ukraine notwithstanding, although the Canadian response to the trucker’s protest borders a military intervention), but the people’s patience is exhausted. One Australian commentator on skynews.com.au captured it well: “We’ve gone from two weeks to flatten the curve to two weeks to flatten protesters…Make peaceful protests a crime. It is quite telling, I think, that so-called peaceful, progressive, universal liberal Canada has beneath that a real iron fist. They’ve sacrificed basic principles of individual rights for the collective good. And every time you do that it ends in tears.”

The first drive-in protest, I participated in on April 15, 2020, in defiance of Michigan’s governor’s draconian response to the “pandemic,” the worldwide demonstrations against tyrannical mandates, and the Canadian truckers’ inspiring the world to hold the line and press for a return to the liberties the West has taken for granted provide us a grand opportunity to exercise our magisterial position and continue peacefully reminding our elected officials that they are elected to secure and defend our God-given rights! Likewise, New York City lawyer Tricia Linday’s stark defense of the same is inspirational and worthy of watching more than once. And this archbishop’s encouragement for the Canadian truckers to not give up is also worth a listen.

Scripture reminds us, “don’t grow weary while doing good, for in due season you will reap, if you don’t lose heart.” Many disheartening events continue to plague our societies in these trying times, but we must not retreat to the comfort of our airconditioned homes. We must continue to raise our voices and proclaim:

Our Father, which art in Heaven,

Hallowed be thy name,

Thy kingdom come,

Thy will be done,

In Earth, as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,

And forgive us our trespasses,

As we forgive those who trespass against us,

And lead us not into temptation,

But deliver us from evil:

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,

Forever. Amen!

Matthew 6:9-13
