Body discovered on walking trail near ACID Canal in Redding

REDDING, Calif., — Authorities have confirmed that the body of a deceased man was found along a walking trail near the Anderson Cottonwood Irrigation District (ACID) Canal in Redding Friday, April 8.

Friday’s discovery marked the second time that a body was found in or near a Shasta County waterway this week, after another body was found floating in the Sacramento River near the Anderson River Park just a few miles away on Tuesday, April 5.

Although few details have been released, officials have said the man’s body was found by a citizen while walking along a trail near the Win-River Resort and Casino.

After confirming the discovery, officials requested the Shasta County Coroner’s Office, who responded to the area to take custody of the victim’s body and assist in the investigation.

The victim’s name has not been released pending further investigation and notification of the man’s family and an autopsy has been scheduled.

Officials have said that foul play is not suspected in the man’s death but provided no further details regarding their ongoing investigation.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 30 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 18 grandchildren.
