MURRIETA, Calif., — Authorities say a local man was killed after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing in the French Valley area of Murrieta early Tuesday evening, April 19. The deadly solo-vehicle crash happened on Murrieta Hot Springs Road, just east of Town View Avenue, according to officials.

Tuesday’s fatal accident comes on the heels of another solo-vehicle crash two days earlier that killed 17-year-old Sharmaine Legaspi, who died after a crash into a light pole in the area of Murrieta Hot Springs and Whitewood roads. The popular and beloved teen was a 2021 Miss Young Philippines USA candidate and had recently moved to Murrieta.

California Highway Patrol, along with City of Murrieta police and fire personnel who were dispatched to the scene around 6 p.m. found a rider that had crashed, CHP Officer Mike Lassig has since reported.

The motorcyclist had sustained major traumatic injuries and despite lifesaving efforts he succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the scene.

The Riverside County Sheriff – Coroner’s Office has since identified Andrew Robles, 30, of Murrieta, as the rider killed in the crash. A Coroner’s release indicated he was pronounced deceased at 6:24 p.m.

Lassig said Robles was riding his 2014 Kawasaki Ninja eastbound on Murrieta Hot Springs when he “made an unsafe turning movement,” along a sweeping right curve in the roadway, causing the motorcycle to hit the center median.

The impact with the median caused the Kawasaki to overturn, at which time Robles was ejected onto the dirt portion of the center divider.

Lassig went on to say that the circumstances of what led to Robles losing control were still under investigation and intoxication has not yet been ruled out as a contributing factor in the fatal accident.

While officials worked at the scene, several lanes of Murrieta Hot Springs were closed, but the roadway was reopened around 90 minutes later, according to CHP, who said the crash investigation is ongoing.

In a GoFundMe fundraiser, the victim’s father, Javier Robles described his son as a family man who had a positive impact on the lives of everyone up around him.

“Andrew helped so many people in so many ways and left an unforgettable mark on everyone around him. Andrew was only 30 and yet spread love and wisdom that was of a person much older,” he explained, adding, “Andrew really was one of a kind and will forever live in all of our hearts.”

To date, the fundraiser has accumulated $9,410 toward a stated goal of $15,000, which will be used to help with funeral costs and other related expenses and to help support his fiancé.
