Hemet/San Jacinto Crime Reporting
Lamb Canyon, Calif.; At about 4:23 p.m., a rollover accident occurred in Lamb Canyon on Highway 79, located between Beaumont and the San Jacinto Valley.
Multiple callers reported seeing a tan, Chevrolet Blazer hit the center divider before rolling over, possibly several times. Initial reports indicated the vehicle might have rolled partway down into the canyon.
Multiple law enforcement agencies and emergency first responders, including the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s newest helicopter, “Star 97”, responded to the reported crash.
The first arriving California Highway Patrol Officer arrived just three minutes after the initially dispatched call. However, before any first responders had arrived, a caller reported the person who had been driving the vehicle had fled the location on foot.
When first responding officers and emergency personnel arrived on scene, they eventually located the mangled vehicle. A records check showed the vehicle had been reported as stolen out of the city of Beaumont.
As of this report, emergency crews were still working at attempting to recover the stolen vehicle. No further information is available regarding the suspect who had been seen fleeing the scene of this accident.
