UPDATE / Canyon Lake Man Pleads Not Guilty To Murder After He Allegedly Shot Friend In Moreno Valley.

RIVERSIDE – On Thursday, Dec. 10, a Canyon Lake resident accused of fatally shooting an 18-year-old acquaintance at the victim’s Moreno Valley home pleaded not guilty to murder, great bodily injury and weapons enhancement allegations.
Michael Boji, 19-years-old, was arrested on Nov. 10, after he allegedly shot Nicholas McCauley at McCauley’s Moreno Valley residence in the 25000 block of Soaring Seagull Lane.
According to Riverside County Sheriff’s Sgt. Raymond Huskey, on Nov. 10 deputies responded to the McCauley residence at about 8:35 a.m. to investigate a reported shooting. Upon arrival, deputies found McCauley dead from several gunshot wounds to the upper body. Based on their initial investigation, investigators were able to identify Boji as a suspect. Deputies and investigators arrested Boji a few hours later without incident.
In a previous press release, Sgt. Huskey confirmed the two men were friends and had attended the same high school together, however he did not disclose a possible motive for the fatal shooting incident.
Boji was arraigned in Riverside County Superior Court at the Hall of Justice in Riverside. His bail remained set at $1 million and he remains at the Southwest Detention Center.
Boji’ is scheduled to be back in court on Jan. 20 for a felony settlement conference.

On Tuesday November 10, a Canyon Lake man was arrested for murder after shooting and killing an 18-year-old Moreno Valley resident.
At about 8:35 a.m., deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Moreno Valley Police station responded to the 25000 block of Soaring Seagull Lane in the city of Moreno Valley regarding a male who had been shot at the location.
Upon arrival, responding deputies found a victim suffering from gunshot wounds in his own home. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The victim has been identified by the Riverside County Coroner’s office as Nicholas McCauley, 18-years-old, of Moreno Valley.
Investigators from the Moreno Valley Police Department and the sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.
During the investigation, investigators learned McCauley was shot by his acquaintance Houston Boji, 19 years old, of Canyon Lake. Boji was subsequently arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for the murder of Nicholas McCauley.
A records check revealed Boji was charged and booked for section 187(a) of the California Penal Code, defined as “murder with malice aforethought”. Boji is being held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned at the Riverside Hall Of Justice on Nov. 16 at 8:00 a.m.
In a press release regarding this fatal shooting incident, Sergeant Raymond Huskey, of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department wrote, “Anyone with any information is encouraged to call Investigator Dean with the Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit at (951) 955-2777 or the Moreno Valley Police Department at (951) 486-6700.”
