Written by Trevor Montgomery
On November 22, officers from the Redding Police Department investigated the report of multiple victims who had been stabbed during a physical altercation at a residence.
At about 10:46 p.m., officers responded to 1157 Yogi Court regarding the report of a physical altercation possibly involving a knife.
Upon arrival, officers located two stabbing victims, identified as Tyler Fox, 22-years-old, and David Disney, 49-years-old. Both men are residents of Redding. Officers also located Matthew Fox, 24-years-old, also of Redding, who was bleeding from a cut on his hand.
During their investigation, officers questioned Matthew, at which time he immediately stated he was responsible for stabbing his brother Tyler in self-defense.
Tyler and Disney told officers they were involved in a verbal altercation with 18-year-old Redding resident Brandon Castle. Both Tyler and Disney stated the confrontation was over loud music.
As the verbal altercation escalated and turned physical, Matthew attempted to intervene and de-escalate the situation. At one point Matthew grabbed a bottle and broke it over brother Tyler’s head.
Matthew Fox stated to officers he broke the bottle over his brother’s head because Tyler was brandishing a knife. After Matthew broke the bottle over his brother’s head, they both fell to the ground. When Disney tried to intervene, he was accidentally cut with the bottle on the face.
Disney was transported to Mercy Hospital for his minor laceration, and Tyler was also transported to Mercy Hospital for a laceration to the back of his head. Matthew was transported to Shasta Regional Medical Center for treatment of lacerations to his hands.
According to Corporal M. Montgomery, of the Redding Police Department, all injuries sustained by the involved parties were described as non-life threatening.
In a press release from the Redding Police Department, Corporal Montgomery wrote no arrests were made that evening, and a criminal report was forwarded to the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office for review.
