HEMET : Hemet Police Officers Involved In Fatal Shooting With Armed Parolee

Hemet – On Dec. 10, officers from the Hemet Police Department were involved in a fatal shooting incident with a parolee who brandished a gun at the officers.
At about 8:34 a.m., two officers from the Hemet Police Department were patrolling the area of a strip mall in the 200 block of E. Stetson Ave. As they were driving through the parking lot, the officers noticed a vehicle that was occupied by a male suspect who was acting suspiciously and appeared agitated.

The officers contacted the suspect and immediately called for priority back-up on the radio. The suspect in the vehicle then brandished a handgun at the officers at which time an officer involved shooting occurred. The officers fired multiple rounds at the suspect who was mortally wounded in the shooting.

Officers on-scene immediately requested emergency first responders to provide medical aid to the downed suspect. Personnel from the Hemet Fire Department and American Medical Response were called to the scene to render aid. However, the suspect ultimately succumbed to his injuries and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a press release from the Hemet Police Department, the suspect was on parole and had an active felony warrant out for his arrest. The firearm the suspect used was recovered at the scene.

The identity of the suspect is being withheld at this time, pending notification of his next of kin. No officers were injured during this incident.
