RIVERSIDE: Recent Riverside Police Department arrests

Recent arrests by the Riverside Police Department

12/17 Thursday evening, officers conducted a bike stop for a California Vehicle Code violation near Andrew Street and McKenzie Street. During a consented search, officers found stolen mail and a stolen check. The owner of the checked was contacted and confirmed it was stolen. The suspect was arrested and booked into jail.


12/18 Friday evening, officers were dispatched to a single vehicle traffic accident in area of Van Buren Boulevard and Morris Street. The vehicle in question impacted the curb of Van Buren Boulevard, sheared off a tree, a light standard and came to rest in a nearby grass area. The driver of the vehicle was contacted standing near the vehicle and was determined to be under the influence and unable to drive a motor vehicle safely. He was arrested and transported to the station for processing after being medically cleared.


12/19 Saturday morning, officers ran a records check on a vehicle in the 2500 block of 10th Street. The records check revealed the vehicle was a reported stolen car. The driver and sole occupant was detained. The juvenile driver was arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall for possession of stolen property.


12/19 Saturday afternoon, an officer responded to the 1800 Block of Linden Street regarding a strong-arm robbery of a cell phone. During the altercation, the victim was struck over the head with a bottle. The officer detained a possible suspect, which the victim positively identified as the suspect. The suspect was arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall.


12/19 Saturday evening, officers conducted a pedestrian check near the 3700 Block of Harrison Street. A records check revealed the suspect had a felony warrant for drug sales. The suspect was arrested and booked into jail.


12/20 Yesterday morning, officers responded to the 3000 Block of Iowa Avenue regarding a subject throwing glass bottles at passing cars and being belligerent. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a subject matching the description and who was displaying obvious signs of intoxication. The suspect was arrested and booked into jail for public intoxication.


12/20 Yesterday afternoon, officers conducted a pedestrian check near the 9800 Block of Magnolia Avenue. It was learned that the suspect is on parole and during a search officers found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The suspect was arrested and booked into jail.


12/20 Yesterday evening, officers were in the area of Spruce Street and Main Street when they saw two motorcycles who were speeding. The officers attempted to make a traffic stop, however, the two riders failed to yield and a pursuit was initiated. The two riders stayed together through the downtown area. One of the riders stopped near Magnolia Avenue and Jurupa Avenue. The officers continued pursuing the rider who was still fleeing. The rider terminated the pursuit near Central Avenue and Palm Avenue and complied with the officers’ commands. The rider was arrested and booked into jail for two outstanding felony warrants and felony evading. The other motorcycle was not located.


12/21 Early this morning, officers responded to a report of a drunk driver near La Sierra Avenue and Indiana Avenue. Officers contacted the driver who displayed obvious signs of intoxication. The driver was arrested and booked into jail.
