Trevor Montgomery
SAN JACINTO – Officers and deputies came together on Tuesday, December 22, in this multi-faceted event to engage in Active Shooter practice and demonstrations, in order to better prepare in the event of an active shooting event at one of our local schools.
School Resource Officers from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department assigned to the San Jacinto Unified School District, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Hazardous Device Team, Hemet Station K9 Unit, Hemet Unified School District, Riverside County Office of Education, and Mt. San Jacinto College conducted demonstrations for Active Shooter Response at the San Jacinto High School, located at 500 Idyllwild Dr., San Jacinto.
The event was hosted by the San Jacinto Unified School District. The purpose of the exercise was to prepare the three campus communities, faculties, and staff for the possibility of an active shooter on their campuses through education and training.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department would like to encourage the public to be vigilant in their community and to report activity they deem suspicious.
Anyone with questions regarding this exercise can contact Sergeant Burton at the Hemet Sheriff’s Station at 951-791-3400 or the Riverside County Sheriff’s Dispatch Center (1-800-950-2444), or email the Hemet Station at [email protected].
