MURRIETA: Search warrant leads to arrest and numerous felony charges

MURRIETA – A search warrant in Murrieta led to an arrest and numerous charges related to identity theft, forgery, counterfeiting and other felony charges.
In a press release issued by Sergeant Steve Dyer of Murrieta Police Department, Dyer wrote that detectives have been conducting an ongoing investigation involving narcotics activity, identity theft, check fraud, counterfeiting, and credit card fraud.

Following investigative leads, members of the Murrieta Police Department’s Special Enforcement Team served a search warrant at an apartment on Dec. 30, at 4:00 p.m. The apartment complex is located in the 24300 block of Jackson Ave., in the city of Murrieta.
During the service of the search warrant, detectives discovered numerous things that were directly related to their investigation. Among other items, detectives and officers located stolen checks, stolen credit card information, computers, printers, scanners, and several other items associated with identity theft, check fraud, counterfeiting, and narcotics.
The resident of the apartment, identified as Ryan Lafevre, 25-years-old of Murrieta, was subsequently arrested for possession of counterfeit bills, and for being a felon in possession of pepper spray. Lafevre was later released on bail.
The ongoing investigation into items recovered during the search warrant revealed several additional victims of check fraud, credit card fraud, and identity theft. At the time of this report, eight additional victims identified and contacted.
According to Sergeant Dyer, the below listed charges will be filed with the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office against Ryan Lafevre: being a felon in possession of tear gas/pepper spray, forgery, possession of counterfeit money, identity theft, being under the influence of a controlled substance and failure to register as a narcotics offender
