HEMET: Traffic stop yields 2 arrests, including AB 109 Probationer arrested with sawed-off shotgun

HEMET – Hemet Police officers arrested two suspects on Jan. 20, after conducting an early morning traffic stop for a vehicle code violation. The stop occurred at 1:58 a.m., in the 2100 block of east Florida Ave. According to a press release from Hemet PD, “The vehicle was occupied by two subjects who were uncooperative and subsequently arrested.”
A records check revealed the driver, identified as Malik Moore, 19-years-old of San Jacinto had an active felony warrant for robbery out of Riverside County.
The passenger, who officers identified as Solomon Andrews, a 39-year-old resident of Los Angeles, was determined to be on AB 109 probation and was in possession of a loaded, “sawed-off” shotgun. Officers found the illegally altered shotgun in a backpack on the passenger floorboard of the vehicle.
Officers arrested Moore on the felony robbery warrant was later transported to Riverside County Jail. Moore was being held in lieu of $60,000 bail.
Andrews was transported to Los Angeles County jail on a no-bail PRCS hold with numerous gun charges pending in Riverside County.
AB 109/Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) is part of California’s Realignment Program, shifting supervision responsibility from state parole to county probation departments on inmates released early from state prison.
