UPDATED: Suspect arrested after Jurupa Valley attempted murder

Amethyst Yates was arrested for her alleged involvement in a stabbing incident in Jurupa Valley.
JURUPA VALLEY – On Wednesday, Feb. 10, deputies located and arrested a woman suspected of stabbing a man on Sunday, Jan. 31. The arrest came after the deputies had identified her as the alleged suspect in the attempted murder and obtained a warrant for her arrest.
The incident began when deputies from Riverside County Sheriff’s Jurupa Valley Station responded to the report of an assault with a deadly weapon at 2:00 p.m., Jan. 3. The incident occurred in a dirt field located near La Canada Dr. and Pacific Ave., Jurupa Valley.
“An adult male victim who sustained a life-threatening stab wound was transported to a nearby hospital prior to the officers’ arrival,” Sergeant Justin Rowan wrote in a press release about the initial incident. “The victim received emergency medical treatment and currently remains hospitalized in serious condition.”
The suspect had reportedly fled the scene and was not located by responding deputies at the time.
Investigators from the Jurupa Valley Station responded and assumed the investigation. During their investigation, sheriff’s personnel developed leads and information that helped them identify a possible suspect, identified as Amethyst Yates, a 29-year-old transient who was known to live and travel between the cities of Jurupa Valley and Riverside.
Based on their investigation, officials obtained a warrant for Yates’ arrest for attempted homicide. Based on the reported facts, Yates was considered armed and dangerous.
On Feb. 10, at 10:45 a.m., deputies assigned to the Jurupa Valley Station spotted Yates walking on Mission Blvd. near Glen St., Jurupa Valley. Deputies arrested her without incident. She was booked into jail at the Robert Presley Detention Center for her outstanding attempted homicide warrant.
