The accident left both cars totally destroyed, with debris spread across all lanes of traffic.

The collision, which was reported just after 8 p.m., occurred at the intersection of West Ramona Expressway and North Alessandro Avenue. The scene was so chaotic, some 911 callers reported as many as four vehicles involved in the accident

After receiving numerous urgent calls, deputies from Riverside County Sheriff’s San Jacinto Station, CHP officers and multiple emergency medical personnel responded to the calls of a major vehicle accident. Callers stated a silver Toyota was sheered in half and a black Mercedes-Benz sustained major front end damage. Callers reported one of the drivers was injured and temporarily trapped inside his vehicle.

Deputies immediately began to divert traffic away from the area, to ensure the safety of other emergency first responders.

Cal Fire-Riverside County firefighters and AMR paramedics treated both drivers at the scene. One driver reportedly had minor injuries described as cuts and abrasions. The second driver was transported to Riverside Regional Medical Center with complaints of pain.

The accident is being investigated by CHP, who have not yet made a statement regarding whether speed, intoxication, or other extenuating factors played a role in the traffic collision.
