BURNEY: Probation search yields illegal weapons, more than 40 pounds of marijuana, officials say

BURNEY – A probation search at 15796 Stagecoach Drive, in the Mill Creek Subdivision outside of Oak Run on Thursday, Mar. 10 yielded three illegally possessed firearms and over 40 pounds of marijuana. The target of the search, identified by sheriff’s officials as Harley Wack, 36, was not located at the time of the search and is currently believed to be evading capture.

Deputies from the Shasta County Sheriff’s Burney Station conducted a probation search on Stagecoach Dr., at about 6:00 p.m. According to Shasta Sheriff’s Sergeant Quentin Johnston, deputies were at the location for the purpose of searching the residence of Wack, who is on summary probation for narcotic-related offenses. The terms of Wack’s probation include search terms, allowing law enforcement officials to search Wack at any time, for any reason.

During a search of the residence, deputies located three firearms, in violation of the terms of Wack’s status as a convicted felon; which prohibit him from owning or possessing any firearms. Deputies also located “approximately 42.2 pounds of processed marijuana,” Johnston said about the evidence collected during the search.

Wack, who was not at the residence at the time of the search, “appears to be avoiding contact with law enforcement,” Johnston stated.

Anyone with information on Wack’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Shasta Sheriff’s Office at (530) 245-6540. Callers can refer to incident file number 16-7963 and can remain anonymous.
