Attempted Murder / Assault With a Deadly Weapon
(Juvenile Suspect)
On Friday, March 18, 2016 at approximately 10:00 p.m., officers were dispatch to the area of Magnolia Avenue and Cortez Street regarding a fight and shots being fired. An officer contacted a subject near Magnolia Avenue and Jefferson Street and found he was in possession of a gun. Through the officers’ investigation, it was discovered that a fight had occurred and a subject produced a gun and fired several rounds at one of the partygoers. The subject detained with the gun was positively identified by the victim as the shooter. The suspect was arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall. The suspect also had non-life threatening injuries, which occurred during the fight.
Robbery / Battery / Elder Abuse / Violation of Parole
On Saturday morning, March 19, 2016 at approximately 7:30 a.m., officers responded to a local fast food establishment regarding an assault at the 3800 Block of Chicago Avenue. The officers learned that an elderly victim, who requires a walker, was walking into the restaurant behind the suspect, when the suspect became agitated at the victim. The suspect then pulled the victim’s walker away from him. The victim was able to retain the walker and went inside the restaurant. The suspect was still agitated and threw a full cup of water on the victim. The suspect then fled the area. Officers conducted an area check and was able to locate and detain the suspect. The suspect was identified as Donta Carter, 30-year-old of Riverside. Carter was arrested and booked into jail.
Robbery / Possession of Controlled Substance / Possession of Drug Paraphernelia
On Saturday morning, March 19, 2016 at approximately 9:30 a.m., an officer responded to a pharmacy regarding a shoplifter who had assaulted a loss prevention officer near the 3800 Block of Chicago Avenue. The officer’s investigation revealed, the suspect walked out of the store failing to pay for the merchandise. When contacted by loss prevention, the suspect assaulted them. The suspect was detained by loss prevention officers and the Riverside Police Department was called. During a search of the suspect by the Riverside police officer, the suspect was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The suspect was identified as Crystal Northrup, 30-year-old of Riverside. Northrup was arrested and booked into jail for the narcotics offenses and robbery.
Assault With a Deadly Weapon Against a Peace Officer / Resisting Arrest /
Public Intoxication
On Saturday afternoon, March 19, 2016 at approximately 3:00 p.m., an officer responded to a pharmacy regarding an intoxicated subject harassing and trying to assault customers and employees near the area of University Avenue and Chicago Avenue. The officer located the intoxicated subject, who became uncooperative with the officer, and refused to follow the officer’s commands. After a brief struggle the officer was able to take the suspect into custody. During the struggle the suspect struck the officer causing minor injury. The suspect is identified as Steven Young, 56-year-old of Riverside. Young was transported to a local hospital to obtain clearance prior to booking. Ultimately, Young was arrested and booked into jail
Robbery / Elder Abuse /Battery
On Saturday evening, March 19, 2016 at approximately 4:15 p.m., officers responded to a local fast food establishment near Hole Avenue and Magnolia Avenue for a possible disturbance. Through the officers’ investigation, it was determined that the suspect was on a crime spree that included robbing a woman of her cell phone, shoving an elderly man over some bushes, and pushing a victim causing injuries and stealing shoes from a store at the Galleria Mall at Tyler. The suspect was identified as Rudolph Recendez, 24-year-old of Riverside. Recendez was arrested and booked into jail.
Resisting Arrest / Multiple Warrants
On Saturday evening, March 19, 2016 at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers were in the area of the 7100 Block of Wyndham Hill Drive attempting to locate a subject who had a felony warrant for a firearm violation. The officers spotted the subject in a residential driveway and he immediately fled into the residence. The officers set up a perimeter around the residence and additional officers responded to assist, including the Air Support Unit (Air-1) as well as Riverside County Sheriff K-9 deputies and K-9 officers from Corona Police Department. The large residence was searched by officers and the subject was located hiding in a small crawlspace in the residence. The subject surrendered voluntarily after the K-9 handlers had given commands to the subject. The subject was identified as Taylor Bell, 22-year-old of Riverside. Bell was arrested and booked into jail.
False Impersonation / Possession of Paraphernalia / Under the Influence of Narcotics / Felony Warrant
On Saturday night, March 19, 2016 at approximately 9:15 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop near the area of Norwood Avenue and Gramercy Place. A records check of the subject revealed that she had a felony warrant for identity theft. During a search of the suspect and her vehicle, the officer located drug paraphernalia and various mail and credit cards belonging to several individuals. The suspect was identified as Nicole Rodriguez, 36-year-old of Riverside. Rodriguez was arrested and booked into jail.
Felony Evading / Possession of Stolen Property
On Sunday afternoon, March 20, 2016 at approximately 3:30 p.m., officers attempted to stop a vehicle for California Vehicle Code violations near Crest Avenue and Gould Street. The vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit continued throughout the city and ground officers were assisted by the Air Support Unit (Air-1) in monitoring the pursuit. The suspect fled from the vehicle near Queensborough Street and Atchison Circle. A perimeter was established with assisting officers and K-9 officers. The suspect was ultimately taken into custody without incident. The investigation revealed, the vehicle the suspect was driving was reported stolen. The suspect was identified as Robert Ruval, 39-year-old of Banning. Ruval was arrested and booked into jail for being in possession of a stolen vehicle.
Attempted Carjacking / Under the Influence of Controlled Substance
On Sunday evening, March 20, 2016 at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers responded to University Avenue and Market Street in reference to a report of a possible carjacking. The victim states that a subject tried to enter their vehicle and threatened to shoot them. The officers were able to locate and detain the subject without incident. The investigation revealed that the subject did in fact attempted to carjack the victim. The subject was identified as Demetrius Gonzalez, 26-year-old of Riverside. Gonzalez was arrested and booked into jail.
