HOME GARDENS – Sheriff’s investigators arrested two people for murder following a homicide investigation. The investigation and arrests came after a man was found deceased in Home Gardens on Monday, March 21.

Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Jurupa Valley Station were dispatched to the area of the 13300 block of Magnolia Avenue at about 9:10 p.m., regarding the report of an unconscious adult male at the location.

Upon arrival, deputies found a deceased male who appeared to have “suffered from blunt force trauma,” according to Riverside Sheriff Sergeant Rob Thompson. Investigators from the Jurupa Valley Station and from the Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.

During their investigation, officials identified Michael Mendrano, 19, and a 16 year-old male, both from Home Gardens as possibly being involved in the homicide. Investigators arrested both subjects for their alleged connection with this homicide.

“This investigation is ongoing and the victim’s identity is being withheld pending further investigation and notification of next of kin,” according to Thompson.
