LAKE ELSINORE: 2-year-old in critical condition after near-drowning incident
LAKE ELSINORE – A two year-old child is hospitalized in critical condition after suffering critical injuries in a near-drowning incident on Sunday, April 3, according to Riverside County Sheriff Sergeant Todd Grimm. The medical emergency occurred at about 4:30 p.m., in the 31000 block of Hyacinth Court.
Deputies and other emergency first responders rushed to the location after receiving a 911 call regarding the report of a child not breathing call.
While emergency first responders were still en route to the residence, emergency communications dispatchers kept family members on the phone and instructed them how to perform CPR on the child. With help from emergency dispatchers, family members “performed life-saving measures” to the child, according to Grimm.
Upon arrival, deputies, firefighters and paramedics took over and provided emergency medical treatment to the child.
“The child was flown to a children’s hospital in critical condition and is receiving treatment by physicians,” according to Grimm.
