Cut and rescue required after violent hit and run traffic collision in Hemet

HEMET – A hit and run traffic collision this morning, Saturday, April 23, left one victim trapped inside their destroyed vehicle, requiring firefighters to perform a cut and rescue operation to free the motorist.

The T-bone, hit and run collision reportedly occurred in the intersection of Sanderson and Stetson Avenues and left the two vehicles and debris strewn across Stetson Avenue.

During the cut and rescue operation, traffic was diverted away from the area, to ensure the safety of firefighters and other emergency first responders working to free and treat the trapped victim.

No information was immediately available about the condition of the trapped victim and little official information is known yet about the incident, however witnesses stated the hit and run, T-bone collision occurred at about 5:30 a.m.

Reports of the major collision brought Hemet Police officers and other emergency first responders rushing to the scene of the early morning accident.

Upon arrival, officers and firefighters found two mangled vehicles blocking Stetson Avenue, with debris spread across the entire roadway. Officers discovered the driver of one of the cars, which was described as a white sedan, had fled the scene of the collision before their arrival.

The other driver of the other vehicle, described as a black Dodge Charger, was trapped inside the destroyed car. Both cars sustained major damage and both vehicle’s airbags deployed in the violent collision.

Hemet Police are conducting an investigation into the hit and run traffic collision.
