Shots fired may have led to suspicious Nuevo rollover that left one dead, one injured

NUEVO – Officials from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department are conducting a death investigation and have cordoned off at least three potential crimes scenes, including one where a pickup truck rolled several times into a dirt field on Lakeview Avenue, north of Electric/Stadler Avenues, according to a sheriff official.
Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Perris Police Station and other emergency first responders were initially dispatched to the report of a single vehicle, roll-over traffic collision in the 28300 block of Lakeview Avenue, at about 3:15 a.m.

The other occupant from the truck sustained major, traumatic – but unspecified – injuries. Paramedics transported that individual to a local area hospital.
Based on their initial observations and evidence at the scene of the fatal rollover, deputies immediately began to widen the scope of their investigation.
Officials soon discovered two additional crime scenes; one at Lakeview Avenue and Nuevo Road, near the Nuevo Village and the other near the intersection of Ramona Expressway and Lakeview Avenue. As of 4 p.m., more than 12 hours after the incident was first reported, all three scenes were still cordoned off while crime scene technicians and investigators documented and collected evidence.

While the sheriff’s department was releasing very few details about the fatal incident, Munoz confirmed deputies had located multiple shell casings at one or more of the three separate crime scenes. However, he could not confirm if the shell casings were directly connected to the rolled truck and two occupants.
Munoz also could not provide any specific information related to the two occupants and their injuries and if one or both sustained gunshot injuries before or after the traffic collision.
