Pedestrian struck and killed by vehicle in Mead Valley
MEAD VALLEY – A motorist struck and killed a pedestrian, May 29, according to a fire official. The fatal, early morning accident happened on Cajalco Road near Decker Road, in the unincorporated community of Mead Valley.
Riverside County emergency communications dispatchers received a 911 call reporting the deadly accident at about 2:28 a.m., Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Public Information Officer Jody Hagemann wrote in a press release about the incident.
Firefighters, Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies, CHP officers, and AMR paramedics responded the accident to provide medical aid to the pedestrian and conduct an accident investigation.
Paramedics treated the pedestrian, who has not been identified pending notification of their family, where the accident happened. The victim sustained major traumatic injuries when they were hit by the vehicle. The person who was struck succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
CHP officers conducted an accident investigation. However, the results of that investigation have not yet been released. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs were contributing factors in this accident, pending toxicology results.

That is not a very pedestrian friendly area. It usually always has a high degree of constant traffic at all hours, best not to be walking in the Cajalco Road area. This is very sad.
Has the next to kin notified yet, my daughter knew him an this is so sad. This is heartbreaking. I wonder how the pedestrian was struck by the motorist. Was he trying to cross the road? If Laurel said that it is not a pedestrian friendly area, then perhaps the speed limit should be changed to make motorists slower? Maybe that would help avoid accidents in the area.
