UPDATE: Body discovered near Lake Matthews, officials confirm

LAKE HILLS – Riverside County Sheriff’s officials are conducting a death investigation after the body of a deceased male adult was found along the southbound shoulder of La Sierra Avenue near Tin Mine Road, in the unincorporated community of Lake Hills Tuesday, June 21.
A passing motorist called 911 to report finding the man’s lifeless body around 2 a.m., according to a sheriff official who confirmed the incident and ongoing investigation.
Lake Hills is located northwest of Lake Matthews, south of the City of Riverside and west of the I-15 freeway.
Deputies responded to the location and found the male who showed “obvious signs of death,” according to Riverside Sheriff’s Public Information Officer Deputy Michael Vasquez. “At that point, deputies called for investigators to assume the investigation.”
As of 11 a.m., Vasquez said investigators from the sheriff’s Jurupa Valley Station, Coroner’s personnel and other sheriff’s officials were still at the location investigating the death. “Right now, we have no indications how the victim got there or how he died,” Vasquez said.
