UPDATE: Three-year-old Moreno Valley drowning victim identified

MORENO VALLEY – Very few details have been released after a 3-year-old Moreno Valley boy died in a pool accident Saturday, July 23. The drowning happened in a residential pool in the 13000 block of Lakota Street in Moreno Valley. The two-story residence where the drowning occurred is located in a quiet neighborhood south of Eucalyptus Avenue and west of Frederick Street.
Emergency first responders rushed to the location after someone from the residence called 911 to report finding the unresponsive toddler in the pool at 5:36 p.m., according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Public Information Officer April Newman.
Paramedics transported the young victim by ground ambulance to Riverside University Health System Medical Center in Moreno Valley. He was listed in critical condition at the time he was transported. He later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Riverside County Coroner officials later identified the drowning victim as Gabriel Horn. According to a coroner’s release, hospital staff pronounced Horn dead at 6:10 p.m., about 35 minutes after he was discovered in the pool. It was not known how long the boy had been in the pool before he was discovered. No circumstances related to the drowning have been released.
